Biomutant is the first game from Experiment 101, a Swedish studio founded by alumni from Avalanche, the studio behind the Just Cause series. Taking place in a valley around the dying Tree of Life, players explore and fight as an unnamed furry bipedal creature, the prodigal child of a wung-fu master who developed the fighting styles that led to the fracturing of the valley’s people. The Tree of Life is being destroyed by the four Worldeaters, huge beasts that have each taken up on one of the tree’s roots. With a world inspired by several Asian styles of dress and architecture, and blended with post-climate collapse environment design, Biomutant is an overly ambitious and imperfect exploration of how life will persist, even after humans have ruined the Earth.
I can safely say that for a long time my biggest childhood fantasy was to pilot an X-wing from Star Wars, ever since first watching the mesmerising battle for the Death Star I'd dreamt to be able to play a Star Wars space combat game, and some years later, EA answered the call. Star Wars: Squadrons is exactly that, a fully fledged space combat game which is the new addition to EA's growing arsenal of titles for the franchise. It offers fast paced combat and beautiful visuals that at times really do make you feel like you're right there in the cockpit and it is a truly amazing feeling, but a pretty lacklustre campaign and slow paced gameplay bring the experience down to earth.
When it comes to sports games, the NBA 2K series is one of the biggest franchises ever and certainly offers the best basketball simulation experience today. However, in the last few years, there haven't been any significant changes between releases other than some quality of life improvements and updated rosters. Unfortunately 2K21 follows the same path and doesn't include any major changes from last year's iteration except for an optional shooting mechanic. While many enjoyable elements of the game are still untouched, there are some recurrent issues that are frustrating to see at this stage of the series' life cycle...
PGA Tour 2k21 is one of the most satisfying golf games to this date. Unlike other popular golf games such as golf with friends, which is more of an arcade and cartoonish golf game, PGA Tour 2k21 aims at providing a soothing and realistic experience when it comes to golfing. The game simulates a real life golf course producing beautiful scenery including a cheering crowd in the background, and in some rivers or lakes in some courses.
