BlizzCon 2021: Reveals, Announcements and More


BlizzCon 2021 (BlizzConline) is officially underway and here’s a summary of all the announcements and reveals in one place.


Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 is still under development however we got a sneak peek at some of the new additions that are coming to the game. We got to see the new hero Sojourn in action and got a good look at two new maps: New York and Rome. Hero Passives will also be role specific abilities that further differentiate the three core roles: Tanks, Support and Damage. On another note, some old heroes will also have their appearances revamped such as Widowmaker, Phara, Reaper and McCree. 

Hearthstone: Year of the Gryphon and New Expansion

Year of the Gryphon marks the start of a new Hearthstone year that will feature new expansions, seasonal events, Battlegrounds updates, and a new game mode. The next expansion, Forged in the Barrens, will launch sometime this Spring with 135 new cards that introduce new mechanics to the game. Aside from the standard set rotations, the game will now feature a free core set which will replace the basic and classic cards currently available in standard. In addition, a new game mode called Mercenaries will be making it’s way into the game. Find out more about the changes to Hearthstone here.

Diablo II: Resurrected Announcement

Diablo II: Resurrected is the highly-anticipated remastered version of the original game that released over 20 years ago. This remaster is set to release some time this year. The game will benefit from a wide variety of graphical and audio improvements thanks to the power of modern hardware while still retaining the classic game’s code. Diablo II: Resurrected will launch on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch.

New Diablo IV Cinematic Trailer

While Diablo IV won’t be releasing in 2021, Blizzard showcased a new cinematic which gave us a look at the all-new Rogue class. The trailer featured both cinematic and gameplay footage of Rogues slaying enemies with both ranged and melee abilities.

Blizzard Arcade Collection

The Blizzard Arcade Collection brings back three classic games from Blizzard Entertainment’s early days. The collection released today and features The Lost Vikings, Blackthorne, and Rock N Roll Racing on PC and consoles.

World of Warcraft Classic and Shadowlands

World of Warcraft’s latest expansion, Shadowlands, will be getting a major update called Chains of Domination featuring new locations, as well as a raid and dungeon. Furthermore, Burning Crusade servers are coming to WoW classic which lets players experience the game’s first expansion with more challenging versions of the old raids
