Just one month after Quantic Dream launched Detroit: Become Human on Steam, the game surpassed 5 million units in sales across all platforms. Previously a PS4 exclusive, Detroit: Become Human achieved this milestone exactly one month after Quantic Dream launched three of its games on Steam, which also includes Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls.
In addition, a new feature was added in the form of Detroit: Community Play which is a Twitch extension that allows streamers and their viewers to collectively make in-game decisions in real-time and. Almost 500 streamers have already played with the Twitch extension and viewers have contributed to more than 1.5 million votes to date.
Korean streamer Kumikomii was pleased with the feature and stated that “I could immerse myself in streaming and connect with my audience much better thanks to the Community Play Twitch extension”.
When addressing launching games on Steam, Guillaume de Fondaumière, Co-CEO and Head of Publishing at Quantic Dream, said that “Launching Detroit: Become Human on Steam has been a delightful experience for us”. He also expressed hid delight with the Community Play extension on Twitch, which “elevated a fundamentally single player game into a social experience”.
Furthermore, Quantic Dream announced on its 23rd anniversary that it has gone fully independent, which allows them to have more creative freedom and gives them the ability to launch their games on new platforms.
