We all know the struggle of your controller’s battery running out and having to use the standard short cable to charge it. PowerA aims to provide an easy solution via a complete charging station which keeps all your controllers fully charged and displayed neatly.
In the box comes two main components – the main charger stand for the controllers and a headset stand to hold your gaming headphones. The charging station eliminates a mess of extra wires and helps in having my controllers and headset docked neatly beside the PlayStation. The design looks great and complements the look of the console really well. It can be a little tricky to get the controller to connect the first couple of times but after that it worked very smoothly. Overall, the simple snap-down connection mechanism that the PowerA charger uses is effective.

I like that you can separate the controller stand from the headset stand and reattach it seamlessly. The additional USB Port for charging a wireless headset or extra controller is also a great bonus to have. However, one thing I don’t like about this charger is that it doesn’t have any kind of indicator lights to let you know when the controllers become fully charged. Obviously the controller is the main way to tell when charging is done, but the its light can only be seen from certain angles. A small LED indicator would’ve taken care of that but thankfully this is only a minor issue. On the bright side, there is no need to connect to the PS4 since the charger just connects to a wall charger keeping the few USB ports free for other accessories.
There are some minor inconveniences such as the charger collecting a lot of dust due to the materials used for the stand. Furthermore, the thin frame made it difficult to balance the stand and even small bumps could make it fall over. However, the benefit of always having both controllers fully charged outweighs these issues. Having both controllers well positioned and fully charged at all times meant that I no longer needed to connect the controllers with the infamously short cable that comes with the console and could completely forget about worrying about my controller’s battery life.

If you have more than one controller, you can have one on the charger the whole time and quickly switch it out when your current controller gets low on battery or dies. Even if you only have one controller, a charging station can be an easy way to charge your controller when it’s not in use. If you want to keep your controllers neatly together and charge them at the same time with an additional headset stand, it could be worth your time to look into PowerA’s charging station.
